Malham Chapel Development Project

Malham Chapel is now fully open following an extensive renovation. It has been transformed into a bright and beautiful open space for the worship of God and the welcome of visitors, whatever their background and beliefs. The most striking feature is a lovely and unique new floor, bearing an artist’s impression of some famous natural wonders from the surrounding dale. It is fully accessible for disabled visitors via a new pathway around the side.

The Chapel will now be open every day and, except for when it is booked out by groups, visitors are warmly encouraged to come in and have a look around, whether for curiosity, shelter, prayer, rest, or reflection. If you would be interested in booking the Chapel please contact Edwin Tate for more information via 01756 796584 or circuit@sagm2718.plus.com.

The rededication service was on 30th March 2019 and the rafters rang to hymns old and new. Revd Janet Clasper, Minister at the Chapel, introduced the service and Revd Peter Bedford gave an illustrated review of the work that had been under taken. An invited congregation of 90 people celebrated the rededication of the Chapel and all the work that the Development Group had put into the project. The address was given by Revd Dr Roger Walton, the Chair of the Yorkshire West Methodist District and prayers of intercession were led by Revd Richard Atkinson, Superintendent Minister of the Circuit. Revd Nick Blundell read a poem, The Chapel at the heart of the Dale, that he had written specially for the occasion. The evening concluded with an excellent buffet.
