New Circuit Proposal

Discussions are taking place about the formation of a new Methodist circuit, involving the joining together of the Skipton and Grassington Methodist Circuit and the Clitheroe Methodist Circuit. A briefing document from the Superintendent Ministers of both circuits is now available and can be downloaded here.

Trinity Methodist Church

Early in the new year Trinity Methodist Church is going to be refurbished to create a flexible space, for use by both the church and by the wider community. The old church hall is being sold and five houses will be built on its site. This will provide funds for the alterations to the church.

In the planned alterations to the church a new entrance will be formed on Duckett Street. This will provide level access to the church, getting rid of the present stepped access in Westmoreland Street. As you enter there will be a new kitchen to your right (where the vestry currently is) and toilets to the left. Part way up the main body of the church will be a dividing screen, so that the junior church can happen on one side and adults can worship on the other. So the much more flexible worship space will be at the Westmoreland Street end of the building.

We are told that changes to the church will take about 14 weeks, so we hope to resume use of the church by Easter. We also want our building to become a resource for the community in which it is set.

In the meantime, following the morning service on New Year's day Trinity Methodist Church will continue worshipping in the Greatwood Community Centre (Sunday mornings) and at St Andrew's (Sunday evenings).
